From a very young age, my parents taught me the importance and value of the natural environment. I have been fortunate enough to experience numerous cultures worldwide in areas like Costa Rica, Zanzibar, Barbados, and British Columbia that have helped me gain a deeper understanding about the interconnectivity of both human and animal wellbeing. I have always been driven to contribute positively to the environment around me and educate myself on all things sustainability. I knew when I got to University, I wanted to pursue an environmental path, so I began my undergraduate program in Environmental Studies. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am one semester away from graduation and feel more inspired than ever to educate individuals around me and contribute to a more sustainable society. My past community engagement includes designing and implementing a sustainable menstrual product program on campus called the “uOttawa Period Project,” which aims to reduce waste and provide the university community with necessary feminine hygiene products. I feel blessed that Genvironment has given me the opportunity to engage with youth in my community, as I feel I can inspire them to live green lives of their own.
